Where are you from?
Boston. Been in Chicago for 8 years.
How do you like to spend your time?
I like to spend my time learning.
What’s your story?
I am an optimist. Optimism is the lens I see the world through, and with that comes the assumption of equality, like an equation we are all bound to. Treat others as though they are less and you will be less. I have this clawing want to believe in justice, that things have a natural balance, and that what you put out comes back. The world does not always support my vision, but I try and fight for the balance wherever I can. In doing so I act behalf of the world, as it tries to correct itself. I love humanity.
What is feminism to you?
Feminism is about equal rights for all people.
What does "Feminist as Fuck" mean?
Feminist as Fuck it is a term of empowerment. It is there to support me. It is an action, a rallying cry to unite behind. I paint it in red on my body and move through public space to force people and their biases out into the light. I am feminist as fuck and your fear does not determine my boundaries.
What feminist topics are most important to you?
The most important thing for me is the social undercurrent that keeps women down. There are so many forces working against equality hidden in our societal structures. There are systemic inequalities that create an uneven playing field where men come out with greater opportunities. The greatest danger to our world is anyone believing they are not capable because oftheir bodies or because of their genes. Every person should feel that society supports them in being the best in whatever they love. It doesn't just benefit the individual–it pushes the whole world forward.
